While we often see olives incorporated as an insignificant addition to tapas, salads and the like, it’s not often that we get to enjoy this fruit on its own. Out of the numerous varieties of olives available, our Seedless Dried Licorice Olives (Reduced Sugar) makes use of the larger yellow variety. A common traditional Chinese sweetmeat, this healing recipe consists of crisp yellow olives coated in a thin layer of licorice that imparts a salty-sweetness to its dried flesh not unlike our local pickles (jeruk). Unlike most sweetmeats, this snack isn’t just all taste and no benefits. Used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat everything from coughs to gastric or even just to detoxify the body, olives and licorice are a match made in heaven for a healthy nibble. Plus, they make a wonderful addition to your diet to open up the appetite!
