Travel 101: Packing Your Skincare

by Stefanie | 21 Jun 2022

If you’re a skincare junkie like me, you’d find packing for any trip an absolute nightmare. Thankfully, we’ve managed to narrow it down for you and ensure you travel light and efficiently while keeping your skin nice and supple!

1. General tips.
• Pretty much a no-brainer, but mini-sized goods will be your best friend when packing. You don’t typically need too much during your trip so these travel minis work perfectly.
• Be sure to update yourself with the flight restrictions. Usually, liquids of not more than 100ml are permitted in a carry-on.

2. Skincare for your carry-on.
This is just a basic guideline so do adjust accordingly based on your personal regimen or skin needs. Do you tend to break out whenever you disembark from the plane? That’s because your skin produces oil in larger amounts to overcompensate for the dry and pressurized air in the plane. Hence, moisturising products will be your go-to in your carry-on.

Micellar water.
This acts as a cleanser yet isn’t stripping your skin with any harsh chemicals.

Facial mist.
You can spritz this on whenever you need a quick wake-me-up.

Hydrating serum or moisturiser.
Depending on your skin type and needs, you can pack whichever fits best. I personally prefer a heavier-duty cream as my skin can get flaky on the flight.

Lip balm.
Don’t forget to keep your lips nice and moisturised too. I learnt my lesson the hard way and my lips were pretty much chapped during my entire trip.

3. Skincare for your luggage.
Packing for your luggage would mean these are the items you’ll be utilising in AM and PM routines so you’ll have a little more leeway to pack more based on the duration of your trip. Having that said, it can also be easy to overpack so always be mindful of the space you have in your luggage.

Sunscreen.
You can try getting a tinted moisturiser or a moisturising sunscreen to multi-task and save space.

Micellar water and eye makeup remover.
If you’re thinking about getting makeup remover wipes to save up on space, we’d think twice as those are typically very stripping for your skin. You’ll find yourself doubling up on moisturiser or spritzing your face every other hour or so which is just rather time-consuming and wasting of products.

Cleanser.
Double cleansing is always the way to go and your skin will thoroughly thank you for that.

Moisturiser or face oil.
Before you hit the sack, be sure your skin is nice and moisturised for the night to avoid waking up with breakouts or hormonal spots.
