For the people out there who tend to prefer other alternatives in comparison to having your oats simply hot in the morning, this one is surely for you guys. In Malaysia, the culture of having overnight oats over your typical hot oats in the morning is truly growing and an increasing number of people are now opting for this instead.

Many people tend to consider this to be a better alternative way of consuming your oats, in Malaysia this trend is surely catching on with people who like to try new and added ways of consuming their daily dose of oats. If you have never heard of overnight oats before, and the odds may be higher, let me give you a quick little run through. Overnight oats are a no cooking method of preparing your oatmeal.

Instead of preparing your oats with water or any liquid on the stove or in the microwave like you usually would, you mix rolled or you could even call them old-fashioned oats with the liquid and other mixes, and let it sit in the fridge overnight. In the morning, you are greeted with a pudding like porridge that is perfect for an easy grab and go breakfast. It does not have the same texture as your usual hot oats right off the heat. It is creamier, denser, thicker, and in many people's opinion, so much tastier. Many people would rather take a jar of overnight oats over hot oats any given day. There are a number of different and unique recipes and methods of making overnight oats out there.

So in this article, I will be going over and advising you on how to make some of the more popular overnight oats recipes out there. These are the recipes that many people come back and use over and over again. You cannot go wrong with these and they always tend to come in handy. Before we go over these particular recipes, you should probably get to know some things that will come in handy regarding the overnight oats equipment. You can easily cook and prepare your overnight oats in just a regular bowl or even a food storage container with a lid. But some people tend to opt for a canning jar instead. For the people out there, now that you have your jars or containers, we can now move onto the actual recipes and details of these overnight oats. Like I have mentioned, each of these recipes can make a very large serving. This is of course great for a big breakfast. If you are instead looking for a lighter meal or even a snacking option, only utilize half of the ingredients stated.



CLASSIC & BASIC OVERNIGHT OATS
This is your starter overnight oats, something that you can try on the first day to ease yourself into the whole process of things and to accommodate yourself with overnight oats! This meal has a prep time of 2 minutes and can be served as either one large serving or 2 small servings depending on what you would want.

Ingredients: A quarter cup of plain Greek yoghurt, half a cup of rolled oats, 3 quarter cups of any unsweetened milk of your choice, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxmeal, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup.

Instructions: You can start by whisking together all the ingredients above in a medium sized mixing bowl. After that, spoon the oats into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Close the oats and refrigerate them for at least 4 hours, but it is better if left overnight before eating.



CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER OVERNIGHT OATS
This one comes with a twist of both chocolate and peanut butter, and I am sure there are a big number of you people out there who would love this combination. This meal has a prep time of 2 minutes as well. And it can be served as 1 large serving or 2 small servings.

Ingredients: A quarter cup of plain Greek yoghurt, half a cup of rolled oats, 3 quarter cups of any unsweetened milk of your choice, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxmeal, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup.

Instructions: The instructions for this are the same as the previous recipe. You can start by whisking together all the ingredients above in a medium sized mixing bowl. After that, spoon the oats into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Close the oats and refrigerate them for at least 4 hours, but it is better if left overnight before eating.



CARROT CAKE OVERNIGHT OATS
This comes with the addition of carrots! Has the same prep time and servings as the previous recipes.

Ingredients: A quarter cup of plain Greek yoghurt, half a cup of rolled oats, 3 quarter cups of any unsweetened milk of your choice, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxmeal, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, 1 large carrot which has been peeled and shredded, 2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese, a quarter cup of raisins and half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

Instructions: The instructions for this are the same as the previous recipe. You can start by whisking together all the ingredients above in a medium sized mixing bowl. After that, spoon the oats into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Close the oats and refrigerate them for at least 4 hours, but it is better if left overnight before eating.



BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP OVERNIGHT OATS
This one comes with the addition of chocolate chips and banana! This too has the same prep time and the similar serving sizes as the previous recipes.

Ingredients: A quarter cup of plain Greek yoghurt, half a cup of rolled oats, 3 quarter cups of any unsweetened milk of your choice, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxmeal, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, a half of a ripe banana which has been either chopped or mashed and 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips.

Instructions: The instructions for this are the same as the previous recipe. You can start by whisking together all the ingredients above in a medium sized mixing bowl. After that, spoon the oats into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Close the oats and refrigerate them for at least 4 hours, but it is better if left overnight before eating.



TROPICAL FRUIT OVERNIGHT OATS
This particular recipe comes with the added perks of having tropical fruits such as mangoes and pineapples! Carries the similar prep time and serving sizes.

Ingredients: A quarter cup of plain Greek yoghurt, half a cup of rolled oats, 3 quarter cups of any unsweetened milk of your choice, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxmeal, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, a quarter cup of chopped fresh pineapples, a quarter cup of chopped ripe mangoes, half of a ripe banana either mashed or chopped and 2 tablespoons of unsweetened flaked coconut.

Instructions: The instructions for this are the same as the previous recipe. You can start by whisking together all the ingredients above in a medium sized mixing bowl. After that, spoon the oats into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Close the oats and refrigerate them for at least 4 hours, but it is better if left overnight before eating.



STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE OVERNIGHT OATS
This one comes with the addition of strawberry cheesecakes! Once again, similar prep time and serving sizes for this one too.

Ingredients: A quarter cup of plain Greek yoghurt, half a cup of rolled oats, 3 quarter cups of any unsweetened milk of your choice, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxmeal, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt and 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, a quarter cup of chopped fresh strawberries, 3 tablespoons of softened cream cheese and the zest and juice of half a lemon.

Instructions: The instructions for this are the same as the previous recipe. You can start by whisking together all the ingredients above in a medium sized mixing bowl. After that, spoon the oats into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Close the oats and refrigerate them for at least 4 hours, but it is better if left overnight before eating.
