Turmeric Powder Benefits You Should Know About

Turmeric is a flowering plant which belongs to the ginger family , the roots are commonly used in cooking . Turmeric is also made into powder to add spice to act as a spice in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking. Turmeric powder is also well known as a colouring and flavouring agent in many Asian cuisines, especially for curries, as well as for dyeing. Well, apart from being a must – have in the cooking world , organic turmeric powder also has a variety of health benefits.

1.) As an Antioxidant
Anti-oxidants are compounds that inhibit oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals which eventually leads to chain reactions that may damage the cells of organisms. Therefore, antioxidants in our daily diets should not be neglected . The key ingredient in turmeric to making it an antioxidant is called curcumin .
