This year, Malaysians are celebrating our 64th Independence Day cheering one another on as we curb the spread of COVID-19. It is a true testimony to our humanity and unity as we showcase our patriotism in a social distance-friendly approach. Here are 3 ways to do so!

1. Support local.
This pandemic has taken a toll on our economic and social livelihood. Many Malaysians have lost their jobs and income hence it is incredibly important to come together as a nation to support our fellow countrymen. Many local brands and SMEs have now gone online and they depend on you and I to help keep their businesses afloat. A quick online search with the hashtag #SupportLokal would help you find the many local businesses and entrepreneurs!

2. Plan your next holiday.
We know it can be tempting to travel abroad once the borders reopen but how about exploring around our very own islands and nature retreats? Malaysia is a tropical paradise home to stunning islands, beaches and nature conservation parks. These make great additions to your travel bucket list and not-to-mention, you would also be supporting our tourism industry. You will also get reacquainted with our beautiful heritage and history.

3. Abide by the SOP.
Let us not allow months of the lockdown to just go to waste. It is extremely important to remember that each and every one of us plays an important role in the battle against COVID-19. As our frontliners are standing, literally between the people and the pandemic, we need to help them by staying home and abiding by the necessary SOPs. There is just no use in pointing fingers. Be the bigger person and be the better Malaysian, for one another.
