Malaysian Eating Habits That Must Be Stopped!

by Faraaz | 8 Jan 2019

Over the years, it has become something more and more prominent that the certain types of foods that Malaysians consume are borderline a shortcut to a number of issues. This has been fueled by the wide variety of basically junk foods that we tend to have offered for our liking. These Malaysian eating habits has left a number of people in jeopardy and on the brink of a number of illnesses and health related issues. A lot of these Malaysian eating habits have been fueled by our own everyday routines.
This can include what time do we eat, what do we eat and what do we do after eating our food. A lot of people fall short in these particular categories. Malaysians have had a long term habit of loving rice and such food items. But, we tend to have them in the most fattening ways possible which are mixing them with other unnecessary fattening food products and also doing things such as frying our rice. This has left a huge number of young Malaysians struggling with their health due to their unhealthy lifestyles. A lot of these habits are something that we may be well aware of and on the other hand, some of these may seem to be alien to us.

But these habits do very much exist amongst us and it needs a change in a more positive direction. Certain and many of our old habits tend to die hard. Especially with food, it can be quite challenging and tough to break free of a habit once it sticks. But you are not able to even start breaking your bad habits if you are not aware of what they are. Sure, some of our daily habits are easier to spot. For example, if you tend to reach for a cupcake every time you begin to feel stressed, you are probably aware that it is not the healthiest way to cope with your problems in the long term. If you often guzzle down energy drinks day in and day out, that is a habit that is very easy to spot. But what about the more subtle, smaller ones, the habits you might not even realize you are guilty of and for. Each and every day you always make hundreds of choices related to food. Most of these you just do without even thinking about it much. But it can be pretty helpful every now and then to take a step back and assess. Are the habits that you are used to keeping up with your diet making you feel good? Are you often feeling tired, not being able to focus, or going through energy crashes? If so, it may be the time for you to switch things up. Here are certain common eating habits that must be stopped for a better and healthier future.

SNACKING NON-STOP

When you tend to lose touch with your body’s natural hunger and satisfaction signals, it may lead to chronic overeating or unhealthy extra pounds that may lead to a number of health related problems such as heart disease, and other serious conditions. If it is junk foods that you snack on, you are also flooding your own body with many unhealthy ingredients. With the right and proper determination, anyone can fix these bad eating habits, and obtain a healthier, more natural weight. By paying and giving attention to your hunger signals and switching to a other healthier snacks, you can boost your nutrition, control cravings, lose weight, and avoid energy drops. Your weight will eventually fall to a healthier level, and you will be able to alter those unhealthy trans and saturated fat, sugar, refined carbohydrates, and additional sodium with more nutritious fare.

TOO MUCH OF FAST FOOD
A steady and frequent diet of double cheeseburgers and fries washed down with some oversize soda or milkshake may tend to often lead to a bigger waistline and other health related problems, such as heart disease and diabetes. Trans fat, often found in fast food, raises the amounts of bad cholesterol and blood fats that contribute to the hardening of your arteries, as well as firing up inflammation, which leads to the buildup of fatty plaque in your artery walls. The number of health benefits of making the switch from fast food to healthy food will be almost immediate and substantial.

Making a permanent lifestyle change will not be easy at first. Fast food is often super convenient, shockingly inexpensive, and thanks to all its fat, salt, and sugar, undeniably tasty. On the other hand, healthy eating tends to take more time and thought, and in certain cases, more money. It is definitely worth it though. In addition to shedding that extra weight, slimming your waistline, and protecting your own body from heart disease and diabetes, you will also increase your savings if you prepare your own meals instead of purchasing fast food.

DRINKING YOUR CALORIES
A cup of flavored latte or frothy cappuccino can be delicious ways to kick start your day. Unfortunately, a coffee habit can often boost your sugar and fat intake more than you tend to realize. Many of the drinks at a place like Starbucks even, and also other coffee shops can provide you with an entire meal's worth of calories, fat, and sugar. If you happen to add a super-sized soda during lunchtime and a glass of wine or two during dinner, you may already be consuming more calories from your drinks itself than you do from healthy and nutritious food. A small skim cappuccino, for instance, can provide you with a boost of protein and usually provides you with less than 100 calories. Then try to swap out your soda for water during lunchtime. And if you currently have a large soda every day, you can be able to cut enough calories to lose a pound or more by just making this wise swap.

SKIPPING YOUR BREAKFAST
Now skipping your breakfast is something that even I could relate to, because I have always tend to have this habit where I just step out of my house every day, completely ignoring my meals in the morning and my breakfast. Skipping over your first meal of the day can have some serious consequences on and for your weight, your levels of energy and even your blood sugar. Munching on a piece of morning toast or crunching a bowl of bran flakes tends to signal to your metabolism that it is the right time to kick things up a notch. Skipping the fuel keeps your metabolism running on a low level, which can lead to extra weight gain and sluggishness. You will also create a starve now and indulge later eating pattern, which is why the usual breakfast skippers tend to overeat later on in the day.

Starting a breakfast routine is simpler than you may think. The moment you do, you take a huge step forward towards fixing the problems skipping your breakfast caused, which includes excess weight and unhealthy blood sugar swings. Eating your breakfast will result in a way more stable blood sugar, which means that fewer food cravings and hunger pangs will tend to occur later on in the day. Because you are now refueling your body early in the day, you will also have more energy during your mornings. You will find that you are able to start controlling your weight more easily as well. This also comes without saying that you will need to eliminate your usual fattening foods that you are used to indulging in. This includes cutting off excessive oil, fried foods or finger foods and be more focused on achieving a balanced and less harmful diet for your own self and your own body.

Finally, making such a change takes determination. We are all well aware of the temptations out there and the calling from a food that we love. It is not wrong for you to have something that you fancy, which is unhealthy of course, once in a while. But making it a habit and that habit turning into your lifestyle is when things start going downhill. Make a pattern for change, eliminate those food items first and put a stop. Then, come up with your own plan as to how would you want to go about changing your habit and start from there. Even though you may initially have a slow start, but remember that it is a start nonetheless.
