Social Distance-Friendly Ways To Give Back To Our Parents

by Stefanie | 17 Jun 2020

If you were to ask us, “What was one thing these trying times have taught us?”, our answer would most definitely be “Humanity”. It taught us to be kind to one another and showed us the value of merely being together. Our parents have always been our pillar of strength so let’s give back to them - the social distancing way!

1. Cook for them 🧑🏻‍🍳

You know what they say, food is never a bad idea! Serving them with a luscious home-cooked meal is not only thoughtful but shows the amount of effort you put into it too. Put your stay-at-home time to good use by searching up and learning new recipes. Eating together is also a great way to spend quality time together. So put your phones away and indulge in meaningful conversations together.

2. Do household chores 🧹

Cleaning and organizing have quickly become a norm the past couple of weeks. Helping around the house by doing some household chores for your parents is a fantastic way to let your parents unwind and destress. It’s such an underrated yet easy way to show your appreciation, that you could even help out every weekend. If you’re looking to organize, we recommend getting some dividers and storage beforehand because once you get started, it’s hard to stop!

If you’ve been separated with your parents during this time, the Internet will be your best friend. Here’s some virtual ways of giving back to them:

1. Have a spa night 💆🏻

What better way to destress than through having a spa night? You could send your parents a spa kit, consisting of candles, massage oil, bubble bath and some tea! Dim the lights, hop on a video call and chat away while relaxing! It’s a great way to pamper your parents and we assure you they will thoroughly enjoy this spa night.

2. Watch movies together 🎥

Movie nights are always fun! Most movie streaming platforms have now made it possible to watch movies virtually with family and friends anytime, anywhere! So, why not set a date for a fun movie night with your parents and have some laughs or even screams. It’s also a great way to bond and spend time together!
