Grand Total:

What Type Of Online Shopper Are You?

by Stefanie | 14 Sep 2020

As Malaysians are adapting to and finding comfort in the new norm, online brands and businesses are getting accustomed to the quick growth they are experiencing as well. The cyberspace has most definitely become the talk of the town so it’s important to understand the people who visit your online store and tailor your content to meet their needs. We’ve identified the most common types of online shoppers.

So which category do you fall into?

1. The impulse buyer.

These online shoppers, also known as the emotional shoppers shop according to their moods. They typically make unplanned purchases based on items that appeal to them in the moment. Retail therapy fits right up their alley. Price is not a factor in helping them make their purchase, if there even is any. Items that are attractive to the eye are what motivates them.

2. The bargain hunter.

Everybody loves discounts but these online shoppers take it to the next level. Scouting for coupons, promo codes, cashback deals, you name it. They know a good deal when they see one and they’re most likely to wait until the items they want are on sale before making their purchase. When they do find themselves a too-good-to-be-true deal, they will tend to stock up.

3. The know-it-all.

Many of today’s online shoppers have become well-informed and familiar with the online world. They frequently research about the items they want, customer reviews and just the general pricing and shipping information before making their purchase. They know what they want and they will ensure they get it safely and securely.

4. The window shopper.

Similar to those who do offline shopping, online window shopping is actually a thing. These online shoppers already have what they need in mind but are hesitant to do so because of price or the lack of information towards online shopping in general. They tend to keep up with the sales offered and are most likely to use the ‘add to cart’ feature quite often.
