Resolutions 101

by Dhanya Parameswaran | 8 Dec 2021

We are only about less than a month away from the new year. How bizarre does that sound?

To say that the year has flown by would truly be an understatement. Having been put on an indefinite pause, everything feels as though there is a constant dark cloud looming over us. Hope for the future seems distant and all we could ever desire at this moment is to have peace of mind. We want to feel calm and centred and live a more fulfilling life with intention at the core of everything we do.

We are here to help you step into the new year with refreshed and renewed energy for a better you. Here are some examples of resolutions to help you get started.

1. Forgive Yourself

It is perfectly normal to fall off your goals. There is no standard guideline for how you are meant to live life. What matters is not that we have fallen off or gotten lost in the process but rather, that we are doing all we can to get back up and try again. Be gentle with yourself and learn to incorporate self-love into your life. Forgive yourself and tell yourself that it is absolutely okay and just start over tomorrow.

2. Start Small

Be realistic about what you, yourself are capable of. It is always better to go slow and take things one step at a time, rather than doing everything all at once and feeling burnt out. Know that going at a fast pace is just not sustainable in the long-run because you are bound to feel overwhelmed. Nurture yourself and know that by going at a pace you feel content with, you are less likely to feel like you have to fall off track.

3. Build Trust With Yourself

When it comes to paying attention to the things we do and the things we feel, it is quite often pushed aside. Why is that so? It is extremely important to build trust with ourselves and have that commitment within that we are able to hold onto. You need not make big promises or place these high expectations on yourself. Start small, conquer and repeat. This is the empowering cycle that is going to encourage consistency.
