5 Simple (& Realistic) Ways To De-Stress

by Stefanie | 7 Mar 2022

Society is pretty harsh at times, isn’t it?

In times like this, we’d often find ourselves searching for that sense of validation for what and how we’re doing in life. While this particular topic can sometimes be a little controversial, we’d say why not? After all, it’s only normal for us to give and take. You give your all in your daily responsibilities and there’s just that little bit of desire in the back of your mind to be acknowledged and appreciated. Then, comes the moment you have been waiting for ‐ To unwind and de-stress.

Here are 5 simple and realistic ways to de-stress and start giving back to yourself!

1. Scream your heart out
We are going to put up a warning first, you will probably want to do this only in the daytime or if you are alone just so you would not end up disrupting those around you. Enter your room and just let it all out. Scream into an open space or into your pillow. Trust us, you will feel a burden lifted off your shoulders.

2. Pamper yourself
Make your wants and needs a priority by pampering yourself. Go to a spa, head to the gym, enjoy a bubble bath ‐ Do whatever that makes you feel rewarded.

3. Eat your feelings away
It has been scientifically proven that chocolate helps mend a broken heart. Well, to be more specific, it is cocoa that provides our body with countless health benefits ‐ Reducing inflammation and heart disease, allowing better blood circulation, lowering blood pressure and more. When in need of a de-stress session, grab your favourite food and desserts and just munch away.

4. Get some sleep
This one is quite a no-brainer but sleep deprivation only adds to the detrimental effects for when you are already overwhelmed. Take a nap or simply hit the sack a little earlier. You would wake up in the morning feeling much more refreshed and rejuvenated.

5. Start a new ritual
Set aside some time weekly or monthly to fully immerse yourself in a rewarding new ritual. You could read a new book or take your dog to a dog park. At the end of the day, it’s purely to help you feel a sense of relief from your busy schedule.
