Yoga Poses To Strengthen Bonds Between You And Your Lover

It is said that yoga has tremendous benefits for your mind, body and spirit. Hence, it does not come as a surprise that yoga is also a splendid way to boost your mood and decrease your stress. If you have already tried a solo yoga practice, it could be time for you to consider doing a couples’ yoga practice with your loved ones to strengthen your bonds and create an intellectual relationship this Valentine’s. With that being said, here are some couples’ yoga poses we highly recommend to try this season of love:



Stacked Child’s pose

This pose does not only make for an instagram-worthy pose to humbly display your affection for your partner, it also helps to release tension in your lower back. Before attempting this pose, it is essential to ensure that you practice this on the safety of a durable and cushioned yoga mat to ensure that both you and your partner steer clear of the potential bruises you might get from compressing yourself against the ground.

Partner breathing

Grab your trustee yoga mat and begin in a seated position with your legs crossed over your shin or ankles whilst having your backs faces against each other. Then, rest your hands on your thighs or knees while allowing yourself to be vulnerable to your partner, feel the connection and zenn between both of your breaths and take notice of how your back rib cage feels against your partner’s back.

Partner Forward fold

Start by being in a seated position facing each other and extend your legs out to create a wide V-shape with your kneecaps facing upwards and your heels touching the floor. Then, extend your arms towards each other and hold onto the opposite palm to forearm, feel the stretch and inhale to lengthen up your spine, proceed to exhale as one person folds forward from the hips while the other sits back just as a rowing motion.

Couples Camel Pose

This pose is a phenomenal back-stretching exercise that emphasizes lengthening the quads and hip flexor muscles. In order to safely complete this yoga pose with your partner, you can start by placing your knees together and grabbing your partner's forearm from your back, then lean back into a camel pose whilst keeping your chest open and core tight by crunching your belly button towards your spine. Do not forget to relax your neck and head without tilting it to your sides to avoid potential injuries or headaches.
