Grand Total:

How To Find Your Inner Peace Through Self-Acceptance

by Stefanie | 9 Mar 2022

Have you ever wondered about how the second you open your eyes in the morning, millions of things are just running through your mind? Know that it is completely normal to not always have everything in control. Life happens. Being at peace with your emotional wellbeing in check is all about embracing the art of self-acceptance and mindfulness.

Why is self-acceptance so difficult to achieve?
First things first, let us understand the irony of longing for inner peace yet finding it difficult to accept what comes your way. Growing up in the Asian culture, feelings have always been a rather bizarre topic to touch on. To excel in all that we do has always outweighed how we are doing emotionally, at least for the majority of Asian households. That added with heightened technology resources and social media only means having a pretty disconnected community.

This causes us to have a misinterpretation about feelings and emotions as we are often afraid to share or speak out ‐ Worried about being judged or shut down completely. As we grow older, this limits us until we can thoroughly understand healthy and mindful ways to express our emotions.

How do we find our inner peace?
Know that positive emotions symbolize the truth while negative emotions symbolize a lack of stability or growth. These negative emotions guide us back to reality, bringing us closer to finding our inner peace. You may practice some of the following habits to make this process a little easier.

1. Understand
If you ever feel like pushing aside your feelings, do not. Choose to allow them instead. You have the freedom to feel any sort of emotions, no matter how bad it may sound. Breathe, believe in yourself and allow these feelings.

2. Listen
When you regain the freedom to feel and acknowledge your emotions, you regain your capability to find a solution. Every emotion has a purpose so listen to it and find ways to let your self-confidence grow.

3. Act
Once you have listened to your emotions, act on it. It leads to a profound sense of wellbeing and you will undoubtedly feel more content with yourself. Here is to gaining self-love through embracing your emotions and experiences with curiosity and most importantly, open arms.
