Signature Market, 4 Years and Beyond

What always seems to amaze us and keep us on our toes is when we realized how time has passed in a blink of an eye. John, a very good friend and partner of mine an I, myself pledged to live a healthier lifestyle but it was really difficult for us as they wasn’t many options available in the market that serves snacks that are inexpensive and easily accessible. Thus, we started Signature Market because I have an vision to make healthy living affordable and accessible to all. I didn’t want to give up on snacking but I figure there are better alternatives out there that hasn’t been implemented here in the Malaysian market yet.

I then stumbled upon a business model in the United States that has a call direct to consumer model and decided in bring this to Malaysia. But before we could start on anything I thought why not have healthy snacks delivered to your desired address? And that was how Signature Snack was founded and with a talented team soon worked our way to improve and grow to serve you better.

Had to be honest, start-ups are definitely not for everyone. The first few years were tough and everyday was a hustle. But we didn’t stop believing. How time just flies. From managing the company small humble office space to having a fully fledged warehouse to admin office in just two years and expanding our headcount. It wasn’t easy to get where we are right now. We grew 12 times in 2 years but it was the failures that picked us up from the ground because that is how we should be, to fail and learn from it.

With that mindset, we’ve managed to serve around a hundred thousand customers and also raised RM1.5 million in June 2017 via crowdfunding with 161 investors supporting our vision. And grow we did, Signature Market was formed as we wanted to expand beyond healthy snacks to organic groceries and plant based household products and we think we’re getting good at it!

But what’s our secret sauce to success? For us in Signature Market, it’s all about the details. We try our best to keep up with the latest market trends in product launches, coming up with new products every Wednesdays.

What's in store for the future? We still have a long way to go but we're optimistic and heading on the right path. We're thinking further into unchartered territories, into unfamiliar ground and that is to bring affordable and healthy food into Southeast Asian countries like Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. While also not forgetting our fans from East Malaysia, we will be serving you better in no time and thank you for your patience as we go on to solve the logistical issues. Last but not least, to introduce an abundance of different products without sacrificing quality. I still can't stress enough on how fortunate I am to have a talented and amazing support crew and not forgetting you customers. Thank you so much.
