4 Foods That May Improve The Appearance Of Your Teeth

A bright smile can make you more confident and definitely leave a good first impression. What can we do to improve the appearance of our teeth for a better smile?

1. Fibrous Fruits


High fiber fruits such as strawberries, pears and apples might help to whiten teeth as the fiber content able to remove stains by scrubbing the surface of the teeth. Besides that, they also contains malic acid that helps to dissolve stains. Malic acid is available in teeth whitening products. Fibrous fruits are able to boost saliva flow which is able to keep our teeth clean.

You can even mash those delicious strawberries with baking soda for better effect and after taste. But of course, professional tooth whitening instrument is more effective. This is only effective for short term only. Don't forget to brush your teeth after having those fruits as they contain sugars.

2. Baking Soda


Either using baking soda alone or mix it with lemon juice. Due to the abrasive property of baking soda and bleaching property of lemon juice, it is possible to whiten teeth naturally. It is recommended to limit the usage of baking soda to once a week. This is due to the abrasive property that will damage the enamel of your teeth an may lead to tooth decay. It is also not recommended for those with braces as repeated usage may soften the dental glue and may leave a dark spot.

3. Water


This amazing liquid not only keep you hydrated, some research suggested that high consumption of water is able to keep our teeth and gum healthy. But do remember that "Too much of anything is good nothing". If you are unable to brush your teeth, you can swish around your mouth with some water.

4. Nuts


As all of us know nuts contains a lot of health benefits such as anti-aging, boost energy, weight loss and more. Nuts contains protein which is able to protect our teeth and keep them strong. Besides that, chewing them may be able to trigger the production of saliva which is able to keep our teeth clean. However, there are some research suggested that nuts may cause tooth decay. Therefore, it is important to brush your teeth at least twice a day as prevention is better than cure.
