An Introduction to the Anime, Comics & Games (ACG) Community in Malaysia

The Anime, Comics and Gaming (ACG) scene which are rooted from Japanese pop culture and the Marvel-DC comics franchise of the West, have made waves globally. As a result, fans, hobbyists, and enthusiasts of the industry host large-scale events annually to serve as a platform for them to network and share their love for the entertainment.

The Malaysian ACG Community consists of cosplayers, gamers, musicians, singers, content creators as well as manga and comic artists who contribute towards and gather to attend popular local ACG events such as Comic Fiesta and AniManGaki. Members of the Malaysian Comics Community too are well up in these events with their growing comic lovers community of over 5.8k members.

ACG cosplay groups and music scenes in Malaysia consist of The Magic Rain, CrestFall, HarmonicaACG and Mystical Mirage. The ACG gaming community too are no stranger to the hall of fame with renowned gamers such as professional e-sports team GeekFam, and RSG Malaysia who specialize in games like PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends and League of Legends.

Further adding to the pride and joy of the ACG community in Malaysia, animation studios such as Codemasters KL have created several AAA standard games and held exclusive licenses for the Official F1 video games since 2009. They also created the highest rated rally game of all time, DirtRally. Meanwhile, Passion Republic Sdn Bhd is notorious for contributing their passion towards the huge franchises such as Uncharted 4, Mortal Combat X, Batman Arkham Knight and Dark Souls 3.
