3 DIY Germ Fighting Products with Plant Origins Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil is extracted through the leaves of tea tree, Melaleuca alternifolia. Tea tree or melaleuca essential oil are antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, fungicide and insecticide. It can be used in various ways. From applying it on your skin to incorporating in cleaning products, tea tree essential oil can definitely benefit you!

1. Hand Sanitizer 👏🏼  

Ingredients

👉🏽5-10 drops lavender essential oil
👉🏽30 drops tea tree essential oil for 0.5% concentration
👉🏽1 Tablespoon witch hazel extract
👉🏽8 ounces 100% pure aloe vera gel
👉🏽¼ Teaspoon Vitamin E oil acting as natural preservative to increase shelf life  

Instructions

Add essential oils and Vitamin E oil to a small glass bowl or container and swirl to mix. Then, add witch hazel to the oils and swirl again. Combine this mixture with the aloe vera gel and mix well. Store it in clean squirt bottles. Shake gently before each use.

2. All-Natural Deodorant 😷

Ingredients

👉🏽3 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
👉🏽3 Tablespoon Shea Butter
👉🏽1/4 Cup Cornstarch
👉🏽1/4 Cup Baking Soda
👉🏽1 Tablespoon Bee's Wax
👉🏽20-30 drops tea tree essential oil

Instructions

Melt the coconut oil, shea butter and bee's wax in a glass jar over a pot of boiling water. Once everything has melted, remove from heat and stir in all the other ingredients. Pour the mixture into silicone moulds, a jar, a small container or an old deodorant stick. Let the mixture set for several hours or overnight before using.  

3. All Purpose Cleaner 🌿

    Ingredients

👉🏽3/4 Cup water
👉🏽1/2 Cup apple cider vinegar
👉🏽20 drops tea tree essential oil

Instructions

 Combine tea tree essential oil, water and apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle. Shake well until thoroughly mixed. Spray directly onto surfaces and wipe clean with a dry cloth. Make sure to shake the bottle before each use in order to mix the tea tree essential oil with the other ingredients.
