Recipe: Baked Tofu with Cheesy Nutritional Yeast (Vegan)

This recipe is perfect for snack or any side dish for your meal.

Nutritional yeast is an excellent source of plant-based protein. It is high in vitamin B12, fiber, low in sodium and also gluten, cholesterol and dairy-free. Nutritional yeast has a flavor that has been described as cheesy, nutty, savory, and “umami”.

INGREDIENTS:
- 2 blocks firm tofu
- 7 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
- 4 tablespoons of soy sauce or tamari
- 3 teaspoons of olive oil
- salt and pepper to your liking

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Drain tofu from excess water and pat dry with kitchen tissue. In order to ensure that excess liquid is drained, cover tofu with kitchen tissue and place a plate on it.
2. Cut tofu into cubes.
3. Mix all ingredients in a bowl except the tofu. Mix well.
4. Heat oven to 163°C.
5. Coat tofu with the mixture. Place on baking tray lined with parchment paper.
6. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until it starts to crisp or golden brown on top.
7. Flip tofu. Coat more mixture and sprinkle more nutritional yeast to your liking.
8. Continue baking for another 5-10 minutes.
9. Serve them!

Reminder! Do not put a thick layer of thick nutritional yeast or else it will burn. 😫
