GOS and inulin specifically feeds and encourages the growth of Bifidobacteria and other probiotic organisms found in the GI tract, resulting in a balanced ratio of microflora that promotes intestinal comfort and healthy immune system function. But what is GOS and Inulin? GOS is a prebiotic naturally present in human breast milk which is able to suppress the growth of bad bacteria in the gut while simultaneously promoting growth of good bacteria. Inulin is a popular vegetable-derived prebiotic which promotes calcium absorption and increase bone density. Probiotics such as the well-known Bifidobacterium longum BB536 which has been used even in the milk industries of Japan, and Bifidobacterium lactis, a Swedish probiotic strain with a long history in the food industry, help to improve the intestinal environment.
