Prepared using the premium species, Honey Jackfruit (otherwise known as Nangka Madu, Tekam Yellow or J33), that’s famous for its natural honey-like taste, these chips are the perfect treat for when you can’t decide between a sweet dessert or crunchy chips. The jackfruits for our Vacuum-Fried Jackfruit Chips are carefully selected and plucked only once they’re fully ripe, thus ensuring that its natural sweetness, nutrients and antioxidants are at optimal levels. Once peeled and ready, they are then vacuum-fried without any added sugar or preservatives to ensure they’re loaded up on all the health benefits and none of the artificial stuff.
But why opt for vacuum-fried instead of conventional frying methods? Vacuum-frying uses up to 70% less oil than deep frying as it utilizes low air pressure and temperatures to fry the food instead. Not only does this ensure the food item absorbs less oil, prevents oil degradation and browning of the food item, it also helps to retain the nutritional quality of the fried product. The product gains a crispy texture but retains almost all of its natural colour, taste and smell. The cholesterol content is significantly lowered due to the food not absorbing as much oil as other frying methods and reduces the chance of toxic components forming in the oil, a health issue that has worried many since it became known. The low moisture content and water activity in the food item also helps to increase the product’s shelf life, making it suitable for fruits and vegetables which otherwise may be hard to carry around as snacks.
