Sweet and often served warm, tong sui (literally translated as ‘sugar water’ in Cantonese’) is a term used to describe and sweet soup or custard served as dessert at the end of a meal of Chinese cuisine. Traditionally served to cool down the body and sweeten the palate, the soups were made from a wide variety of traditional Chinese ingredients that ranged from beans to white fungus and dates. However, long hours of boiling usually causes the nutritional benefits of the soups to drop significantly as many of the nutrients are heat-sensitive. Our solution?
